Happy Memorial Day Everyone! As this glorious long weekend marks the unofficial start of Summer, gets me out of work on a Monday (praise hands here) and fills my inbox with news of glorious sales, it also reminds me of the price to enjoy all of those things. I have to admit, sometimes I get caught up in days on the lake and planning vacations that I lose sight of why we actually have this holiday. I was sitting in church yesterday and as we were about to sing our last hymn, the music director invited all the military men and women, past and present, to stand. It was probably a rather expected event that churches and public institutions were doing all across the country but at that time as I was watching elderly men stand up slowly one by one, it just hit me how incredibly blessed we are to be Americans. I have freedom to live my beautiful life here because others were and are out there defending our land. I also have the ultimate freedom in Christ because my Savior Jesus Christ laid down his life for me. Sometimes it is just too much to fully wrap my head around. The incredible backdrop to today post is the side of a building I drive past every day on my way home from the gym. I don’t know why it is there or what the building it embraces is used for, but it is an amazing reminder of just how proud I am to be American (cue Toby Keith American Pride here) and a woman of God. It seemed an appropriate place for today’s post so naturally I paired it with my flag clutch and my summer uniform: white top & cut offs. My Pliner wedges are from last year but I’ve linked up some great options and dupes. Now the only thing missing is an ice cold can of America. (If you’re clueless as to what I mean, click here for a quick education.) I hope you all have an amazing weekend and even score a few good deals. I’m signing off for a day on the lake with the fam. If you want to witness any of our crazy antics or scenic views of Lake Wylie you can follow along on snapchat @ taylor.davis71.

Good morning loves! Happy Friday!!! Not only am I so excited about a long weekend, but I’m so pumped for today’s post. This look is so my style: laid back, colorful and cool. The all black ensemble is an easy go-to with little thought since it goes with everything and this sequin floral scarf necklace is a new obsession! It’s a super easy way to spice up any outfit. I have to limit myself from reaching for it every day! I threw in some other colorful accessories with this outfit and was ready to roll.  To top it off, I recently stumbled across Cake Me Away Bakery & their adorable storefront. I was mesmerized by all the pretty treats and adorable colors. It must have been my lucky day, because they were giving away free cupcakes in celebration of their 2 year anniversary. If you know me at all you know just how much I love a birthday / anniversary celebration. I am super grateful for the ladies at Cake Me Away for allowing me to shoot with them and share in their sweet treats. The cupcake was almost too pretty to eat (almost) and was so delightful. I will definitely be back for more tasty goodness!

The Memorial Day Way

One of the things I love about summer is that for three months during the year it is socially acceptable to be kitchy and wear cutesy things. Typically, you only get national holidays (St Pattys Day, Halloween) and special events (bachelorettes, birthdays etc.) and that’s about it. I am totally in love with all the cute summer themed things I am seeing out this year. There are flamingos, watermelons, pineapples and Popsicles everywhere and I just can’t get enough. With Memorial day weekend coming up as the unofficial start to Summer, I decided to share some of my favorites. These items are great things to pack for any long weekend vacay you might be taking and are are really trending right now. My personal favorite is the espadrille trend. I have pretty much ditched all my basic flats for this updated summery style. There are so many different styles and patterns to choose from it will be difficult to limit yourself even to only a few pairs. All the other packing necessities are pretty much by the book. I love the twist on the classic sun hat this year. All the cute sayings are really tempting me to grow my hat collection in a big way. A straw tote & punchy clutch are great for any occasion. You can throw everything in a bag and take it all or just grab the clutch you need an run out for an errand. Embroidered beach cover-ups are the cutest and come in the most patriotic colors.

Are there any food icon items you are loving this  year? How deep is your pineapple obsession?!

Good morning babes! Do you ever have those days where you wake up feeling confident and ready to rock something awesome? You know exactly what you are going to wear that day without trying on a million things and you know you’re just going to love the outcome thus boosting your self confidence even more. This, my friends and followers, is one of those outfits for me. I just knew it from the minute I put it on that it was going to make me have all the good feels. Now, I have to admit, my mind immediately goes to the late great Johnny Cash. He was a big part of my childhood and my parents & grand parents loved his stuff. I was late to come around as a fan, but am reminded of his edgy cool demeanor every time I wear all black. This leather skirt totally adds to the edge factor and was such a steal. It was the last one in my size and once I tried it on I knew it was going to be the staple I have been looking for. It is unfortunately sold out now, but I have linked some good ones below that will help you re-create this look. With all of the up and down weather we have been having lately I kicked my doubts about wearing leather in the spring because when it feels like fall all day, I need all the extra warmth I can get. I really love wearing all black or all white. It takes the work out of getting ready and some days I just prefer easy. But most of you know I love color,  so,  for the heck of it, I threw on this simple colorful strand necklace, a crazy colorful clutch and these amazing DV heels that I practically live in. It’s just enough to give this classic look a modern touch and a personal spin.

Which outfits give you the most confidence?

Old Navy Tank, French Connection Leather Skirt (dupe 1 ($30!),  2 ($30!), 3 ($41!)), Dolce Vita Heels (similar here & same print in flats & slides), ASOS Clutch, RayBan Club Master Glasses, Colorful Strand Necklace, Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color in “Retro Red”

Good Morning loves! Where in the world has this week gone!!? Isn’t it always the case when you have so much to do that there is never enough time to do it?! I have been caught up in a whirlwind this week. Long days at the office, long nights trying to pack = crazy lady. Top it off with a big scoop of “I don’t know what the heck to take” and I’ve officially landed in toon town. Luckily I have been keeping track of all my “absolutely must fit no excuses” items for you so your packing might be a little easier. I also did some major editing so all my necessities fit in the sweet little carry on (linked below). I honestly can’t spend a minute on the beach without some sort of tunes and I swear by the SUNNYLIFE radio below. It has the cutest retro feel and plays your ipod or FM radio. It even has a latch compartment to keep your stuff sand free. The foam koozie made me laugh when I saw it so I knew I had to have it and have used it by the pool or the beach ever since. The BARE sunscreen is amazing! It is made by COOLA but is half the price and found at your local Target in the beauty section. It’s slightly tinted so I’m protected and have flawless looking skin while out and about. It’s hard to believe if you have ever seen one of my suitcases, but I really like making the most of my outfits and try really hard to pack smart – i.e dresses & rompers. They are total space savers & easy to throw on over a bikini!. I love having go-to beach vibe accessories that mix and match with all those single piece outfits.

I’ll be flying out to Cali tomorrow morning and can’t wait! For more of what I packed and a live look at my adventure, follow me on snapchat: taylor.davis71. The selfie stick and I will be exploring everything every chance we get.
