color block sweater look

Happy Friiiidayyyyy!! Who is excited?! I definitely am- and not just because I’m finally breaking out some fun denim and awesome color block sweater styles like this one. Wes and I are making our way slightly north this weekend to visit his family and participate in fun fall things like the NC State Fair. I have been so excited ever since I heard we were going a few days ago. It’s super silly and I totally feel like a kid when I talk about it, but I’ve never been and have heard is a good southern time- to put it nicely. I’m mostly excited to be with family and to be outside. This cooler 70 ish weather is so dreamy! I can finally transition into some more fall things like more denim and fancy sweaters like this one. I have to say I fell in LOVE with this one months ago and have been itching to wear it. It is what my cold weather dreams are made of. It is so soft, has the perfect loose but not baggy fit and the shearling detail on the bottom is so amazing there are no words.. Can you tell I love this sweater?! haha. Anyways… It picks up all the shades of blue in my patchwork jeans nicely and made for a quirky yet cool look. The jeans are now 40% off at Nordstrom (linked below) and my amazing Winky Lux Lip color is available online today!! It goes on like butter and doesn’t bleed onto your face, which, for me, is always a plus and huge selling point. The last thing you want to see in the mirror after an hour of wear is a resemblance to the joker.

I hope you guys have an awesome weekend! Go outside, do some shopping, or just stay on the couch and watch football. The possibilities are endless!

Starry Fall Cardigan

Good Morning! I’m pretty excited about hump day and halfway through the work week but I have to say I am totally dragging today! I’ve had my fair share of coffee but I just cannot seem to get myself awake! Hopefully it will kick in soon, but in the mean time, how about this amazing fall cardigan!? I’m seriously obsessed with it and the adorable star pattern. It is so warm and cozy and is super easy to throw on when I’m lounging around the house or heading out for a quick errand. I got the black and white version because I can always match back to black, but there is a navy option too that is so adorable. I almost got both because I really couldn’t decide. While navy is a good neutral and a good color for me, black will always win out.  With the temps dropping in NC this week, I opted for some cool moody grey skinnies and my fun metallic sneaks. It’s a perfectly casual look, but still warm and fun. I mentioned earlier about how I love the stars on this and it’s true. I have see a lot of celestial motifs popping up lately and while it isn’t a mainstream trend yet, I think the star studded pieces are a fun addition to the wardrobe. Denim & Supply has a great dress here and Henri Bendel has a super fun satchel here here. Pop in some fun celestial earrings or cosmic drops from Bauble Bar and you’ll look like you just fell from the sky!

Another Wedding in the South

I have had a lot of people ask me recently about dressing for weddings during these oh-so unpredictable transitional times. It’s so tricky to give just one solution. Their question is usually followed by my series of questions: inside or out? what type of venue is it? formal or cocktail? what is the weather supposed to be like that weekend? and that is just the beginning. Luckily, no matter what the answers are, Rent the Runway has it covered. I first heard of RTR when I was a freshman in college. Sadly and shockingly enough for me, that was almost 10 years ago- eeek! I was shocked and amazed by the service and products they offer. While I have a deep love affair with fashion and designer labels, I often find myself window shopping more times than actually shopping the beloved designer brands (and when I say “often” I mean all the time). So RTR is perfect for me! I get the styles I love and don’t have the hassle of storing tons of special occasion dresses (because you know you can’t wear the same one twice and get photographed) or justifying the price paid because it’s totally affordable. In fact, you would probably pay less for the RTR dress than any quality choice you might find in your local mall or boutique.

So to take some of the stress out of your Fall wedding season, I’ve rounded up some of my absolute favorite picks for any stylish event, mood or weather you might encounter. AND right now you can get 20% off your first order with code FIRSTRTR20P*

Bow Blouse Pleated Skirt

Good Morning beautiful people! Can you even believe it is October already?! I honestly can’t. It’s not like I don’t know what month it is because I write the date on the reg but I’m just wrapping my head around the fact that we are in the last few months of the year. Thankfully, it is finally starting to cool down here in NC. I’m a summer bird through and through but I’m so ready to embrace cooler temps and get a break for a while. At least until winter hits, then we can fast forward to summer!

Pleated Skirt Bow Top

As soon as we broke the 90 degree marker here I started pulling out some Fall things that could be worn earlier. I am having a real moment with this feminine pleated faux leather skirt and pleats in general. It is so much fun to style with different tops and shoes. It can go super girly or slightly edgier and both ways are awesome. Versatile pieces really are the best and really help you get your money’s worth. As I was pulling out this piece and half way switching out my closet this weekend I realized I have a thing for faux leather skirts. I’ve linked up some more of my current  favorites below, but stay tuned in the coming weeks and I’m certain a few more will be featured here and there.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
