Good morning everyone! I hope you guys had a great weekend and have had your week get off to a good start! Today I’m finally recapping my amazing trip to Chicago for #tbscon. I want to start by prefacing that over a week later, I’m still on a high and am so energized by all the amazing people I met and the things I learned.
I am not sure how it started, but I have always had a thing for watches. I guess it started when I was younger and my grandmother would give me a different one every year for Christmas. I never asked for them, but it was her thing that the girls got a new fashion watch every year. By the time I was 16 I had more than I knew what to do with, much less wear. Over the years they have stopped working and gotten worn out but I still wear a watch every day! I have a smaller collection but it is made up of quality time pieces like this one from JORD. I have been eyeing these guys and their amazing wood watches for years and have been totally obsessed with all of their styles which is why I am so excited to share my new watch and this giveaway with all of you!
I have had a lot of people ask me recently about dressing for weddings during these oh-so unpredictable transitional times. It’s so tricky to give just one solution. Their question is usually followed by my series of questions: inside or out? what type of venue is it? formal or cocktail? what is the weather supposed to be like that weekend? and that is just the beginning. Luckily, no matter what the answers are, Rent the Runway has it covered. I first heard of RTR when I was a freshman in college. Sadly and shockingly enough for me, that was almost 10 years ago- eeek! I was shocked and amazed by the service and products they offer. While I have a deep love affair with fashion and designer labels, I often find myself window shopping more times than actually shopping the beloved designer brands (and when I say “often” I mean all the time). So RTR is perfect for me! I get the styles I love and don’t have the hassle of storing tons of special occasion dresses (because you know you can’t wear the same one twice and get photographed) or justifying the price paid because it’s totally affordable. In fact, you would probably pay less for the RTR dress than any quality choice you might find in your local mall or boutique.
So to take some of the stress out of your Fall wedding season, I’ve rounded up some of my absolute favorite picks for any stylish event, mood or weather you might encounter. AND right now you can get 20% off your first order with code FIRSTRTR20P*

Happy Memorial Day Everyone! As this glorious long weekend marks the unofficial start of Summer, gets me out of work on a Monday (praise hands here) and fills my inbox with news of glorious sales, it also reminds me of the price to enjoy all of those things. I have to admit, sometimes I get caught up in days on the lake and planning vacations that I lose sight of why we actually have this holiday. I was sitting in church yesterday and as we were about to sing our last hymn, the music director invited all the military men and women, past and present, to stand. It was probably a rather expected event that churches and public institutions were doing all across the country but at that time as I was watching elderly men stand up slowly one by one, it just hit me how incredibly blessed we are to be Americans. I have freedom to live my beautiful life here because others were and are out there defending our land. I also have the ultimate freedom in Christ because my Savior Jesus Christ laid down his life for me. Sometimes it is just too much to fully wrap my head around. The incredible backdrop to today post is the side of a building I drive past every day on my way home from the gym. I don’t know why it is there or what the building it embraces is used for, but it is an amazing reminder of just how proud I am to be American (cue Toby Keith American Pride here) and a woman of God. It seemed an appropriate place for today’s post so naturally I paired it with my flag clutch and my summer uniform: white top & cut offs. My Pliner wedges are from last year but I’ve linked up some great options and dupes. Now the only thing missing is an ice cold can of America. (If you’re clueless as to what I mean, click here for a quick education.) I hope you all have an amazing weekend and even score a few good deals. I’m signing off for a day on the lake with the fam.
