Baby Reese Gender Reveal with Smockingbird Clothing & Second Trimester Update Wks 13-20

I’ve always known that I would never be the type of person to have a gender reveal party. I have been to several and they have been so adorable but for me personally, I would rather save my time and energy on a baby shower than a party that just tells you what you’re having. I also know that I am pretty impatient and it has only gotten worse with this child. More than any other reason, I’ll be in a fit if someone knows what my child is before I do and keeps it from me for weeks to plan a party. If I can know, I will! It’s this neurotic behavior that caused my first pregnancy melt down and psychotic break but that is a story for another day. Today’s post is my kind of gender reveal and I’m so excited to not only share another fabulous look from my unlimited subscription at Rent the Runway, but to partner with Smockingbird Children’s Clothing to share with you what our little Reese’s Piece is.  Scroll down to see my look with this fab gingham skirt, baby updates and the big reveal.

BABY REESE BUMPDATE

My cravings have calmed down a lot but are definitely still there. It has gotten a lot easier to manage so I can be pretty healthy during the week and indulge a little on the weekends. Cravings definitely sway to the salty / savory side of things but my sweet tooth hasn’t completely subsided. Over the past few weeks I’ve been craving cake with buttercream frosting, pulled bbq with onion rings, Doritos, french fries (still!), any kind of bread: bagels, baguettes, scones, biscuits – you name it, I love it.

With all those cravings, it’s no surprise the weight gain hasn’t taken a break. I’m keeping up with my regular work out routine and trying to stay healthy with fruits and veggies during the week, but Baby Reese is growing about a pound a week at this point so I’ve shifted my focus from trying not to gain, to minimizing the damage. Most of the 13 lbs to date have gone straight to the belly but I’m noticing a little in the thighs too. My boobs are a whole other story! Holy cow I’ve never had them (hello itty bitty titty committee) and now they are a full size and a half bigger and I don’t know what the heck to do with them except marvel. I’m probably the only woman who doesn’t want them but I can’t wait for them to go away. I really loved my ability to wear any kind of top or strapless anything with out issue.

Nausea & Sickness are totally gone praise the Lord! Now I’m living in the land of always bloated and it’s getting harder to bend over. Baby Reese is growing healthy and strong but I can definitely tell the extra mass in the middle.

Sleeping or should I say lack there of has gotten more challenging. A little known fact about pregnancy is that it gives you the most insane dreams. I was so tired and exhausted throughout the first trimester that I slept like a rock and remembered nothing. Now I’m up and down half the night going to the bathroom and wondering how in the world my dreams got so insanely crazy. Some nights I’m being hunted and shot at, some nights I’m BFFS with A and Bravo list celebrities and other nights I’m just in crazy random places. It’s totally nuts but for now, I’m keeping a modest eye on what I watch and read before bed because it definitely comes straight through my dreams.

GENDER REVEAL

I fell in love with this Alexis gingham skirt and top the minute I saw it on RTR. I have been so in love with the match set trend this season but have had a hard time finding bump friendly pieces. The gingham skirt was full but fit just right above the bump and was so flattering. The crop top is super cropped but was a perfect mate with the high waist skirt. I paired it with my fave bow mules and a pop of color with my citrus circle bag for a lady like style. I also couldn’t resist the first opportunity to match Baby Reese. Smockingbird sent baby R the sweetest layette and bubble and I am so in love. If you haven’t heard of them, Smockingbird Children’s Clothing is an online children’s clothing store for boys and girls. They specialize in smocked styles but offer a so many adorable styles like the bubble and layette and all come with the colorful Southern style I’m obsessed with.

Blue gingham and little fishies makes it official – BABY REESE IS A BOY !!

Since we are so blessed to have a boy on the way, my days of matching are probably limited to just this once, but I’m soaking up every minute of it and so excited to meet our little man in November. The blue gingham layette is going to be perfect for cold November days and the trip home from the hospital but I’m so excited for next Summer when he can crawl and waddle around the beach in this precious fish bubble. I may even have to have it monogrammed. It may be a boy but we’re all still Southern!
