Baby 2 Bumpdate: First Trimester Recap

I cannot tell you guys how good it feels to finally have the news out & in the open. It has been SO HARD to keep it quiet but it took us a while to tell all of our close family & friends the way we wanted to. Read on to hear all the ups and downs in this first trimester bumpdate of baby Reese number two.

I honestly don’t know where to begin with this first trimester bumpdate. This pregnancy has been crazy right from the start. Wes and I found out we were expecting our second child the weekend of July 4th. I had been feeling like total crap that whole week but chalked it up to exhaustion. I had just come off a two-day shoot with Sunni and had been working so hard to get the July 4th tablescape post up in time. I just assumed my long days and the heat and finally gotten the best of me until I realized I hadn’t felt that bad since I was pregnant with Wally. We weren’t taking any measures to prevent it since we wanted to start trying after our family vacation so as soon as I had the thought it seemed like the answer.

Come Friday, I finally decided to check it out and took 2 tests, one died and said nothing (I didn’t know this could happen), the other said not pregnant. I was pretty confused since I still felt pretty terrible but overall didn’t have any other symptoms I had with Wally. That weekend, we had our FOJ party & went to Greensboro for a birthday party as planned It wasn’t until we were in line at Biscuitville that Sunday morning that a post for a pimento cheese biscuit made me physically ill that I thought: a) I’m pregnant and the tests can’t tell yet or b) something is seriously wrong. As soon as we got home, I took another test and it was positive. As relieved as I was to have an answer, I was also completely shocked. I honestly expected it to say no again.

I called my doctor on Monday to schedule a confirmation appointment but, thanks COVID, they couldn’t get me in for 4 weeks. Since the first appointment is only to confirm the pregnancy, I left without a due date and had to wait another 3 weeks to get back in for an ultrasound and lab work to get the basic information. By the time my ultrasound appointment came around, I guessed I would be in the neighborhood of 11 weeks. I finally got in on 8/19/20 and much to my surprise, I was way off on my guess. Fast forward three weeks and bam! I’m actually 14 weeks (as I’m writing this – now 19 weeks), done with my first trimester and due in February, not March. We will find out the baby’s gender this month but are keeping it quiet for just a bit so we can do a little gender reveal for our family. I promise I’ll share that tidbit as soon as possible because I know if I don’t I’ll let it slip somewhere.

Do you have any guesses as to what baby Reese will be?!

Let me help you by giving you some pregnancy info from the first 14 weeks.

Wally

  • extreme exhaustion
  • sweet & salty cravings
  • lots of nausea
  • never actually sick
  • food aversions more than cravings
  • glowing, perfect skin + no breakouts
  • Chinese calendar says boy

Baby Reese No. 2

  • extreme exhaustion
  • sweet & salty cravings
  • lots of nausea
  • sick only once
  • food aversions more than cravings
  • a few small breakouts but overall the same as non-pregnant skin
  • light-headed often
  • Chinese calendar says boy, Amazonian calendar says girl

For the most part, I feel great, I have had normal pregnancy “things” but overall feel like I’m getting through it pretty easily. Wes and I are beyond excited to grow our family and welcome another little one into this world. We’ve spent most of our time trying to explain brother & baby in mommy’s belly to Wally but it hasn’t quite clicked yet. I’ll be back in 10-12 weeks with a second trimester bumpdate. In the meantime, I’ll be updating the baby shop page with items I’ve bought for this one and items that we couldn’t live without in our first two years with Wally.

Is there anything else you want to see? I love writing these posts but I really love writing and working on the posts you want to see most so please let me know in the comments!

cheers,
taylor
