Playroom Inspiration

If you’ve been around for a while or follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I’ve been trying to get this playroom/toy situation under control for about a year now. I did a ton of searching for playroom inspiration and shopping for toy organizers and storage units to try and get some order in my life.

I was pretty set on a few options and ready to purchase them when I came across a few really amazing playroom designs on Pinterest. Something in me immediately felt like I was settling and I knew I wanted more than just toy organization. I wanted to create a fun, inspiring, organized, and colorful place for my children to play and learn. I also, selfishly, really want all the big bulky toys out of the living room. They have been blocking our fireplace since we moved in and I’m ready to see it this winter.

There are so many incredible designs out there that it has taken me the longest time to settle on what I really want. As I said, I wanted the space to be colorful and inspiring but I wasn’t sure if I wanted it to be more neutral like Mary from Happily Grey did for her daughter or if I wanted it to be full of color and pattern like Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific did in her Florida home. On top of all that great home inspiration, there are so many beautiful rooms from talented interior designers floating around on my playroom inspiration board on Pinterest. I guess I was just waiting for the right aesthetic to hit me and I would start going for it. Wes and I weren’t in any hurry until we found out we were having baby number two. After that it seemed more urgent and necessary so I got to work. There are still a few pieces to put together and things on my list to purchase but I’m pretty excited with how it is coming along so far.

Scroll through to see some fabulous home/ playroom inspiration and my two mood boards for our playroom.

Playroom Inspiration

Happily Grey

Mary’s playroom is actual goals. While I tend to gravitate toward brighter & more saturated colors, I look to her for playroom inspiration because she is the best at creating a cohesive space where every single piece makes up the perfect whole. She has the most fun gallery walls (here & in her daughter’s nursery) that inspired me to create one for the playroom. My favorite thing about this space is how she managed to make it 100% toddler friendly without sacrificing a single element of design. It’s so so beautiful.

McKenna Bleu

When I’m stumped I always look to McKenna for home decor inspiration. Much like her personal style, every place she calls home is full of color and amazing finds. She creates the spaces we all dream of but never do for ourselves… at least the ones I never do for myself. My husband would literally kill me if I brought a pink couch anywhere near this house but I’m determined to make it happen one day. It’s not a playroom but I love how Mckenna made her daughter’s room the ultimate girly space.

Atlantic Pacific

Blair’s Florida home has been the most fun space for me to see come to life. Lucky for all of us home decor and design lovers, she documented some of the renovation process via her Instagram stories. Over the past year she has revealed the final result room by room and it does not disappoint. I use Blair for inspiration because she is queen of mixing vintage + modern, unique color combinations and mixes classic patterns in a way that is always fresh & new.
